Pilgrim's Receiving Feed

Pilgrim's 12% Receiving Ration is specifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of stressed calves. It is formulated with high-quality and palatable ingredients to help stimulate intake and start calves on feed. This product offers several benefits that make it an excellent feed for preconditioning or backgrounding calves prior to weaning or for starting shipped in calves on feed.

Features and Benefits

  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed is medicated with chlortetracycline. This aids in prevention and control of shipping fever.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed pelleted formula prevents sorting at the bunk. Since it takes 1 to 2 weeks to get stressed calves eating adequate amounts of feed, it is important that every bite be nutritionally balanced.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed contains all natural protein. Due to reduced rumen function, stressed calves cannot efficiently utilize high amounts of urea (non-protein nitrogen). Urea may also reduce intake.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed is high in fiber, but also high in energy In general, as energy concentration of a receiving diet increases, morbidity and mortality increase. However, performance improves and cost of gain declines. Thus, one needs to provide a feed that provides a balance of fiber and energy.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed contains 25% cottonseed hulls. This increases palatability, and helps get calves started on feed.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed contains 20% soybean hulls. The energy is provided by "digestible fiber" which, as opposed to starch, does not reduce forage digestion or utilization like grain based feeds can.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed contains optimal fortification of both vitamins (Vitamins A, D and E) and trace minerals. These vitamins and minerals help stimulate the immune system.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed contains organic zinc in the form of zinc methionine. This is a more available source of zinc to help stimulate immune system.
  • Pilgrim's Receiving Feed contains yeast culture, helping repopulate rumen and stimulate intake.

Most importantly, this product has been proven to work with many satisfied users. Typical gains that have been reported with this feed fed for the first 2 to 4 weeks of a receiving period have been 2.5 to 3.0 lb per day with minimal health problems.
